Economic 'Hiroshima'

G'day all.

Had nothing much i wanted to say of late, but something a mate/mate's dad said a while ago, whilst i was getting a lift home from work, has been stuck in my head for a while (cheers to Matty)

Sometime in the near future...perhaps as soon (or late) as 2020, the world supply of crude oil will peak.."well why do i gave a shit" you say. Here's why.

Crude oil price is liked intristically with the economy - oil is used for so many things. Pharmaceuticals, plastics, fabrics..petrol (obviously) are but a few. Now, the peak is referred to as the time when exactly half the world's supply of crude oil is used up - and you would be thinking yes, so...wouldnt we have trillions of barrels left?
Truth is, we do! We started out with an estimated total of around 2 trillion barrels. As of 2003, we had used up 900 million.

But it isnt all peachy - once the wells are half empty, we'll have to go through an increasing amount of trouble to pump the last bit up. More energy means more price. You could Think of it like eating yogurt out of a tub. At first, you’ll have no trouble to bring out spoonfuls of yogurt , but after a while, you’ll carefully have to maneuver your spoon around along the sides and corners of the carton to bring the last bit out. In oil wells, it goes the same way.

Price is estimated to go up 1.5-3% each year after peak. Recently it has been estimated that the world consumption stands at 80 million barrels a day. Meanwhile oil demand is rising too. To fill in the gap, oil prices at the pump are estimated to inrease 5 to 6 fold by 2020. thats $200 US a barrel.

Bad time to be addicted to cheap oil...

The real problem is that alternative energy costs more energy (oil - since most electricity is generated by coal/oil fired power stations) than it can recuperate during it's entire lifetime of use! take wind energy. To build wind turbines, you’ll have to weld steel, drive all kinds of stuff and engineers around in trucks and cars, build factories and make thousands of components. In the end, it costs more energy (oil) to actually build a wind turbine, than a wind turbine will ever generate during its entire lifetime!

Headlines like these are just going to be more and more common as times go on.

Anyho, enough on how were all fucked.

I did this random test thing to see how much i knew about alcohol.

Congratulations! You're 127 proof, with specific scores in beer (60) , wine (83), and liquor (104).
Screw all that namby-pamby chick stuff, you're going straight for the bottle and a shot glass! It'll take more than a few shots of Wild Turkey or 99 Bananas before you start seeing pink elephants. You know how to handle your alcohol, and yourself at parties.

My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

Death of an obscurist

Zdzislaw Beksinski, born on the 24th of February 1929. Polish surrealist painter known for his images of death, was best known for his abstract renditions of skeletons, monster-like creatures and other apocalyptic images evoking death and decay. He was a contemporary master.

Beksinski studied architecture at the Cracow University of Technology. His themes spanned many mediums such as painting, sculpting, photography and drawing. Known to like working to the strains of classical music, he loved to create intricately detailed pieces of surreal art. His work came to the forefront in the 1970s and 1980s

He was murdered at age 75, stabbed to death at his Warsaw home. Three days later, police charged two teenagers with the slaying. One suspect, the son of Beksinski's friend and aide, confessed to killing the painter. It appeared he had been killed refusing to give the youths a painting he had created.

"We all see death before our eyes, I am not an exception." he said at the opening of an exhibition of his work. "Personally, I am more afraid of dying than death itself. This is not a fear of emptiness but of suffering - and this is what I am most afraid of”

Beksinski studied architecture in Krakow before throwing himself into painting, photography and drawings. His works hang in the National Museum in Wroclaw, the National Museum in Warsaw and in a dedicated museum in Sanok

Though Beksinski depicted foreboding, dark images, he always resisted attempts to analyse their meaning. "It misses the point to ask me what my paintings mean," he once said. "Simply, I do not know myself. Moreover, I am not at all interested in knowing."

Beksinski had burned several of his paintings because they failed to meet his exacting standards or were "too personal."

His wife, Zofia, died in 1998. A year later, on Christmas Eve, his on Tomasz committed suicide after suffering from clinical depression.

apparently, women suck at giving blowjobs. to quote the man "fuck...umm...not.th.ing...can...please.a...ma.an..li..lik..like.,.another.man"

people, i admit i wasnt sheltered by my parents like most of you have been. i grew up next to a gay couple. i dont see whats wrong with that. gays ARE people, some are just shitloads more fuckin annoyin than the rest and due to this deserved to be shot in the head. you could compare the annoying ones to the bitches that wear trendy shit and try on an accent all the time. but fuck, some people are funny when they rant drunk. the rest are fine as long as they dont try and crack on to you.

the gay couple are also, to a lesser extent, mates. to all you homophobes fuck you in advance, you think what you want cos u wont bother takin in a word i say. to all others - calm the fuck down. gays CAN, SOMETIMES (and only sometimes) be cool people. get to know a gay. not those tossers on Queer Eye. those people are NOT real. i repeat NOT real. get to know a normal one. they aint that bad.

guess im just a little more open minded. i still love my female girlfriend jess. shes great. i doubt ill ever even think of climbing the fence, even to see whats on the other side, metaphorically speaking.

open your minds.
