Scars.

I think you cant be a real man, or consider yourself one until youve been through a lot of hardship.

call me whatever you want....but i think unless youve been through hardship that may or may not have changed how you thought, and tested you as a person....you are soft. weak. whatever.

you look at a grizzled council worker....an army veteran...a politician (to a certain extent, but not so much as the others....) or any like professions, and i guarantee you'll find that person to have much more .....character than someone like a white collar worker....a suit (executives, ceo's, management, whatever fits there) or a trust fund baby....and you'll see the difference.

short and succict for the reason i want peoples thoughts on the subject, i dont want to form their opinions....i want to make you think. comments appreciated.

Lovely "boasting" there Jess. Nice story. You gave us some great pictures to think of, thanx.

I agree with you Dave. Then again, it's easy to write off all executives as ruthless wankers who couldn't imagine what a hard day would be like. Obviously, that's not true either...
I think that it's all up to each one's character. And characters are being formed in family and in school. Yes, I have seen many people changing through demanding or pretentious jobs but, to be honest, if u have values... you do not lose your way. You may get out of the track for a while but you always have your compass for the ride...

Every job has its pros and cons. Every job can become tiring, exhausting, boring, frustrating, even sub-human sometimes...

But, yes, in general there are some rules that can apply almost everywhere. And although there have been days that I had to sleep in the office for an hour the most in order to catch the maagzine's deadlines, I think I was rather lucky, comparing to what Jess' father is dealing with on a daily basis.

If you have come to terms with yourself, you don't complain for no reason. If you can appreciate how lucky you are just because you are healthy, then you wouldn't say "fuck, just another day at the coalmine!!!" :-)

It's a fact that intense experiences can change you. Hard times make you stronger. Extreme situations bring soemthing new out of you. But there are some turning points that are... so unfair. Imagine being an Iraqi teenager and live everyday in this madness. I mean... how normal can you be after that? I wouldn't bet on that...

Ahhhhh... Nitchze Nitchze Nitczhe...
